After SV thrust me into purgatory during the post-Black Tuesday putsch, the first thing I did was to head over to a site founded by others who had been chased away from SV months earlier.
It's been a sobering experience, to say the least. Nearly everyone there voted for Jill Stein. A few even voted for Twitler , because they hate Hillary that much. She would have started World War III. She had Seth Rich assassinated for leaking the emails. She should be in prison because of the private server. And so on ad nauseam.
Whenever I point out that all this seething hatred of all things Hillary is starting to sound like Frei Republik . No matter how many times I tell them that I supported Bernie in the primaries and voted for Hillary solely because she is not Orange Julius Caesar, I get ridiculed as a "Hillbot", "sad that Her lost", and the like.
So there you have it. Out of several thousand people there, I am among the most conservative! It's as if my 6'3" self wandered into the Warriors' locker room and instantly became the shortest person there.
The hell of it is, we all want the same things: universal healthcare, less income inequality, civil rights and so on. But most of them have become so disillusioned with the present state of the Dem party that they're willing to just burn it to the ground and start over with the Greens or whoever, no matter how many elections repukes win in the meantime. Even pointing out that Bernie himself came around and supported Hillary is no use.
Well, that's that. The final straw was when some knucklehead blamed Labour's narrow defeat on its alleged "Jewish problem"! Nope, sorry, can't play anymore, not when I keep getting redirected to Breitbart like that. Now I have to decide whether to go for the classic maudlin goodbye post, or perhaps a parody thereof. In case you're wondering, I have attempted to call out anti-Semitism there in the past. All I got was a stern warning for "calling another member anti-Semitic".
